The Thar Desert
The Thar Desert, also know as the Great Indian Desert, occupies over 77,000 sq. miles of land, largely in Rajasthan, but extending into Pakistan, Haryana, Punjab and Gujarat. It is the 18th largest desert on earth and the 9th largest subtropical desert. It is the most densely populated desert on earth as up to 40% of Rajasthan’s people live in the Thar desert.

Camel safaris, entertainment in the desert by nomadic tribes, who are passionate about folk music and folk dancing, are the main attractions.
